CAROLINE BRETHENOUX
Originally from France, Caroline is a freelance contemporary dancer & choreographer and Gyrokinesis ® & Gyrotonic ® teacher. She has performed with Complutum Contemporary Dance Company and DaDaDanza Project in Spain, Projects in Movement and Company Contexte in Paris. In NYC, she has collaborated with Eryc Taylor Dance Company, Mare Nostrum Elements Dance Theatre Company, BalaSole Dance Company and independent choreographers. Two years in a row, she was the recipient of the “Emerging Choreographer Series” residency provided by Mare Nostrum Elements and LPAC. Her work has been shown in NYC at LPAC, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre, Bloom Green Space Festival, The Current Sessions, The Intimate Series, Dixon Place, NACHMO Festival, Brooklyn Ballet First Look Festival, The Dance Gallery Festival in both NYC and Houston, Foro Performatica in Mexico, Le 6B in Paris and CCDC Dance Center in Hong Kong. In 2015, she founded CB+, a creative collective inviting artists from different disciplines to collaborate on different projects.

CAYLEE SHIMIZU
she mee zoo is a one-woman show trying to make it in the big apple. That woman, Caylee Shimizu, is a San Diego native and a recent resident of Brooklyn; she danced and photographed her way to a BFA at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. She began this solo study after moving to New York with the intention to create whimsical works that incorporate highly physical and expressive movement. JONATHAN DOHERTY resides in New York City after graduating from the University of the Arts (class of 2015) under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. He has had the pleasure of working with artists such as Jesse Zaritt, Katie Swords-Thurman, Tommie Waheed-Evans, Netta Yerushalmy, Douglas Becker, and was a apart of the original cast of Twyla Tharp’s “TreeFrog in StoneHenge” (2013) as a featured soloist. Since moving to New York, Jonathan has shown and been apart of work shown in venues such as The Tank, JACK, The New York City Transit Museum and Triskelion Arts. Currently, Jonathan is crafting a new evenings length work with collaborator Georgia Gavran to premier this January (2017) in 'Split The Bill' at Triskelion Arts. 

KAKE DANCE, recently founded by Katherine Mayo, is a modern dance company indulging in the artistic and expressive world of dance through stage work and film. he mission of the company is to showcase its creative style of grounded movements while provoking thought from the audience and creating a journey. As a form of communication, dance can be used for many purposes such as release, escapism, or a showcase of ideas. KAKE strives to encompass those moments of found honesty within their work as a means to express them to the world. We all are beings wanting to be understood and sharing that is what will help us grow as individuals and as a community. "KAKE's movement is varied in its nature based on the specific emotion or event we are trying to evoke in the work and how we determine going about evoking that particular event. How I often discover which emotion or event I would like to explore is usually through pop culture such as music or movies or simply watching people interact. Artist Bios

GEORGIA GAVRAN, a Wisconsin native, and JONATHAN DOHERTY, a Western Massachusetts native, graduated from The University of the Arts receiving their BFA in Dance Performance under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. Former comrades in school, the two found each other in Brooklyn, New York, where the friendship blossomed into collaborators. Georgia, animated and sarcastic, while Jonathan, quirky and out going, found themselves producing complex and interwoven conversations through movement. Utilizing the abstract pairing, they formulate a comical and erratic environment throughout their creations. Conceiving their first child, Single, Double, the two have presented work at venues such as Triskelion Arts, JACK, and The Tank. Georgia and Jonathan are currently creating a new full lengths work premiering in January 2017.  @georgialu and @jdohhh

GINA MONTALTO began her technical training at New Jersey School of Ballet and American Academy of Ballet and then went on to study modern/post-modern dance and Italian language and literature at Rutgers University and College of Morris, where she was also an active member of Rutgers Performing Dance Company. Since graduating, Gina has taught dance and Italian and has continued with professional training programs at Broadway Dance Center. She currently work-studies at Peridance Capezio Center, choreographs musicals for Livingston High School and Millburn High School, dances with Introspective Movement Project, and is a freelance dancer and choreographer in NYC.

NEHA's music has that nostalgic quality to it, one that will have you feeling like you're sitting in a Parisian street café sipping a glass of champagne. Her arrangements are thoughtful and complex, and her sumptuous powerhouse of a voice will leave you awed at the 5'2 framed young Indian woman.

Since graduating from New England Conservatory in May of 2012 with a Masters in Jazz Voice Performance, Neha been actively engaged in the Northeast performance scene, performing with her band at prestigious venues like Scullers Jazz Club and Club Passim. In New York, her performance credits include headlining at the famous off-Broadway show "Sleep No More," frequenting venues like The Flatiron Room, The Lambs Club, Ginny's Supper Club, Rockwood Music Hall, Caffe Vivaldi and Jazz at the Kitano Room.  

A gifted singer, composer & pianist, Neha’s style can be characterized as a smorgasbord of musical personalities.  She cites influences such as Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Otis Redding, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, Dinah Washington, and Carmen MacRae, to name a few. While definitely rooted in jazz, elements of folk, blues, pop and her mother's classical indian musical background also permeate.

Neha, a recent recipient of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist award for her original song 'The Willow Tree,' released her debut album in January, 2014, "The Dreamer." The album is now on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon. 

VANESSA VARGAS is a Venezuelan, Brooklyn-based dancer, performer and teacher. MFA in Dance (Taller de Danza de Caracas) B.A in Journalism (UCV), MA (with high honors) in Communication for Social Development (UCAB), MA in Performance Studies (Tisch, NYU). I'm currently living in New York City working with US-based choreographers and dance companies such as Danielle Russo and Rastro Dance Company, sharing her experience as a teaching artist and performing at several dance and performance venues, including 24 hour project, Chez Bushwick, Teatro Circulo, and Dumbo Dance Festival, among others. I have been working as a performance artist and at The Museum of Modern Art, in different exhibitions including Lygia Clark’s, James Lee Byars’, David Lamelas’ and Yoko Ono’s, while developing my dance practice and projects on performance directed towards collaborative dance practices overseas, but also teaching and developing my scholarly research on movement. http://vanessavargasdancelab.com/
